The trip to Stanton for the Midland Walkabouters was a fun trip. Here we are at the gate to the Carmelite Monastery in Stanton. Walkers were Gary & Carolyn Petersen, Janice Courtney, Criss Kohl, and Teresa & Bill Ingram.
Although the day was very warm in the low 90s, a nice breeze helped a lot. We enjoyed seeing several yards full of bluebonnets. One hardy patch of bluebonnets was growing from a crack in the street, so we wondered why it is so hard to grow them.
At one point we missed a turn onto St. Peter Street and walked quite a way in the wrong direction. When we backtracked, though, we could see the monastery, so we headed that direction, and then continued on the correct route.
After we picked up our vehicles at the Stripes station we drove to the Old Sorehead Trade Days and wandered through the booths. Janice Courtney had a friend from Rising Star, TX who was selling plain and flavored nuts. We stopped there and happily purchased cashews and almonds for snacking.
Our next walk will be Saturday, May 10. We decided that instead of the Bush Walk (which was on our tentative calendar), we will do the proposed walk for the TVA meeting that we are hosting in August.
The proposed walk is similar to the Bush Walk. It will be beneficial for us to check out this new route, nail down the exact directions, and locate any restrooms, etc. along the way.
More information to come about our May 10th walk, so mark your calendar!
