Join us on Saturday, March 7th for a walk at the Carlsbad Caverns National Park. We will be meeting at 6:30 a.m., in the parking lot behind the JumBurrito at Midland Park Mall. We expect to return in mid-afternoon.
Some of us plan to hike down the Natural Entrance, which is quite rigorous (like walking down a 70+ story building), and some plan to take the elevator down to the Big Room. The cave trail is paved and has handrails throughout. We also plan to hike part of the Old Guano Mining Trail, outdoors, along a ridge with panoramic views.
Bring your National Parks pass (if you have one), for free or a reduced admission fee. Also bring water. A flashlight is fun for highlighting the nooks and crannies. We plan to eat somewhere before returning to Midland.
For our ‘Old’ members, please bring your $3.00 and record booklets. New members and guests get to walk for free.
AVA Event # 115435 – 2020/Y2604
The year-round temperature inside the caverns is 56. Outside, it should be in low-60’s on Saturday.
Sure hope you can come and join us….. See you on Saturday!
