A special thanks to all of the members who helped clean up our ‘Keep Midland Beautiful – Adopted – Windlands Park.’ Those who participated in the litter control pickup on Saturday, 2/3/18 were: Dorise Watson, Ken Rust, Carolyn & Gary Petersen, Uta & Sam Sanchez, Janice Courtney, Diana Smart and Read Johnston.
Alex also reported that she had updated the Windlands Park bulletin case by placing 2018 information about the Walkabout Club in the ‘Give-Away Box’ that is attached to the case.
We’re always looking for new members, so hopefully others walking and running in the Park, will stop and read the bulletin board, take a free brochure, and come to a meeting or attend a Walkabout event.
For the beginning of a New Year, members of the Midland Walkabout Club participated in the Annual Monahans Resolution Walk. Thanks to fellow member, Read Johnston, who sent us the results and a little pic!
“Bonnie Resley, Ken Rust, Delores, Sammy Hunnicutt, Alex Rose, Read Johnston after their 5 or 10K Resolution Run at the State Park. We all had fun and half of us won medals. Weather was perfect. It was hot enough that Read poured water on his head at each of the water stops.”
Great Way to Start The New Year!
Way to go Walkabouters!

Our last Walkabout Meeting for 2017 was held on Monday, December 4th, at the Venezia Restaurant, where a beautiful Christmas party was prepared for our members. A special thanks to Janice and Alex who decorated the event magnificently.
The food which was first class in taste and service, along with the conversation and acknowledgements made the event quite a success, and everyone is looking forward to 2018, and the walks and events that are being planned.
It was announced by our President, Sammy Hunnicutt, that the current officers would remain in place for the 2018 year. A special thanks for all the hard work the officers do for the Walkabout Club, their dedication to expanding our Club, and making our events more successful is greatly appreciated!

The 12/2/17, San Angelo Trip turned out to be a great success, and reported that seven of our Midland Walkabout member attended the event! As an added surprise, the group got to meet San Angelo Volkssporters, Charles Winkelspecht, nicknamed “Wink,” and Brownie Roberts, who also walked with our members.
The group enjoyed the walk along the Concho River and said…. “it’s a river that actually has water in it!”
The Midland group included Alex Rose, Read Johnson, Carolyn Petersen, Kenneth Rust, Bonnie Resley, Jack Rogers, and Gary Petersen. A special thanks to our intrepid drivers, Read and Gary!
Don’t forget the Monday, Christmas Party/meeting at 6:00 p.m. at Venezia’s.
