Update on 3/8 – Big Spring State Park Walk

Hello Midland Walkabouts and Fellow Walkers….

On a chilly and windy morning March 8th,  seven members of the Midland Walkabout Club traveled to Big Spring.    Our destination was the State Park which is within the city limits of Big Spring.

The participants were Teresa and Bill Ingram, Criss Kohl, Cherry and Mike Owen, and Gary and Carolyn Petersen.  The 10-20% chance of rain did not materialize, fortunately.

After a brisk 5K walk around the outer loop and the nature trail, we headed to the Days Inn to stamp our booklets and then on to Hotel Settles.    This is a well-known historical landmark which has been beautifully restored to 1930’s elegance.    We enjoyed our lunch there.    The Owens and Ingrams regaled us with stories about their lives in Lake Charles and other Louisiana haunts.

Always had eaten at Herman’s and I think they are still closed. Glad you have discovered a new place to take nourishment. As a country-western singer would say “Great balls of fire”. The Club’s vision has expanded. Jack
